In collaboration with Architizer USA, an online design-focused news hub, and Sunbrella USA, a renowned sun shading company, we are exploring alternative concepts of outdoor shading. This project utilizes a cluster of waterproof fabric draped over a steel structure, with some sections formalized into swings. During windy days, the entire installation will move like flowing tentacles in a wind-like seascape, evoking a sense of innocence and childhood playfulness.
We aim to redefine shading, not merely as a means to block the sun but as a dynamic element that interacts with the wind, constantly changing its geometry. Visitors are encouraged to touch, pull, and engage with the installation, fostering a connection with the architectural formation itself. This project seeks to explore the curiosity of our planet, material science, and the constant evolution of form and structure.
