In this furniture project, we are exploring the humble cabinet handle. We questioned why handles always look like handles and wondered if we could have some fun with the act of opening a cabinet. Thus, we created three concepts to "HANDLE" our queries: a cracked hold that allows for the opening of the cabinet door, a soft folded crease that facilitates the act of opening the cabinet door, and a spiraled flattening of felt-like material that resembles an optical illusion screen, which also serves as a soft door opener for a cabinet.
We aim to transform wardrobes and cabinets from boring furniture elements into pieces where opening becomes a ritual and celebration of one of the most overlooked aspects of cabinet design.
