In collaboration with LG Electronics of Korea, the inventor of flexible OLED lighting panels, we were tasked with utilizing this innovative technology to design a lighting concept. With this in mind, we created a flexible lighting strip featuring magnetic connections at either end. We envision a woven system where these panels can be flexed into a backpack or cladded entirely on a wall, allowing the freedom to bend the panel itself and create various patterns. Using a magnetic adhesive system, the user becomes the creator of a wide range of designs.
We imagined a magnetic power conduction system where the back panel serves as the main unit of power supply to the flexible lighting elements. Each strip can also consist of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, similar to those found in smartwatches. The brief is to create a highly flexible lighting modular system, empowering the user to harness the incredible invention of LG Electronics.
