TCL GREEN — Grass over Grass

Commissioned by Warner Bros. Discovery for a documentary highlighting the environmental initiatives of TCL Electronics, TCL Green by Creazione SUGO transforms electronic waste into a poetic architectural landscape.

The installation takes inspiration from a simple observation in the fields of Abruzzo: the quiet geometry of grass moving with the wind. This moment sparked the concept “Grass over Grass”—a modular sculptural field where discarded technology mimics organic growth.

At its core lies a hollow steel structure developed with DiSisto 1940. More than 3,000 recycled computer circuit boards are carefully laminated onto the framework, their distinctive green surfaces forming a dense, luminous texture. When internally illuminated, the boards glow softly, revealing the unexpected beauty hidden within electronic waste.

The installation is further enhanced with a bioluminescent coating that absorbs sunlight during the day and emits a subtle glow at night. A photocatalytic surface treatment—based on research associated with NASA—allows the sculpture to actively purify the surrounding air.

Through augmented-reality goggles developed by TCL, visitors can also explore a digital layer embedded within the sculpture, revealing the microscopic world of circuits and microchips.

TCL Green ultimately reflects on the origins of our digital age. By transforming obsolete circuit boards into a luminous landscape, the installation proposes a new perspective on waste—where the discarded materials of technology can be reimagined as instruments of beauty, education, and environmental awareness.

Kevin Chu – Videography Services

Kevin Chu is a self-taught videographer who has been researching filming techniques, cinematography, and video technology since 2019. Unlike many designers, he personally produces all video content for his own projects, driven by a desire to maintain complete creative control and accurately communicate his design vision.

Specialising in short-form films of up to five minutes, Kevin combines his expertise as a qualified architect and award-winning designer with advanced videography skills. His background allows him to understand spatial composition, lighting, form, and architectural storytelling, giving him a unique advantage when filming design, architecture, art, and product-related content.

Passionate about emerging technologies, Kevin utilizes state-of-the-art filming equipment selected for both image quality and mobility. His approach prioritises capturing the strongest possible content efficiently, ensuring every opportunity contributes to the final narrative.

Over the years, his videos have supported projects that have received internationally recognised accolades, including the Red Dot Design Award, A’ Design Award, and Archiproducts Design Award. He has also collaborated with artists, designers, and companies worldwide to create compelling visual content.

In 2023, while working on a project with Warner Bros. Discovery, Kevin had the opportunity to learn directly from professional film crews, further expanding his expertise in large-scale productions. Footage he personally directed and filmed contributed to a campaign that helped Warner Bros. Discovery and TCL Electronics China secure the Red Dot Award for Brands & Communication Design.

A licensed and experienced drone pilot, Kevin offers a complete videography service that includes concept development, scripting, filming, music composition, drone operations, post-production editing, and, where required, award submission support. He works closely with clients to deliver distinctive, engaging, and highly effective visual stories.

Kevin welcomes collaborations with individuals, brands, artists, and organisations seeking creative, design-focused video content with a strong narrative and professional execution.
