Desklamp Sculpture
At Creazione SUGO, we are fascinated by the restless pulse of the contemporary city. Urban life unfolds in a state of perpetual motion—dense, energetic, and constantly transforming. METROPOLIS emerges from this condition, distilling the rhythm and dynamism of the modern skyline into a luminous sculptural form.
Inspired particularly by Hong Kong, the birthplace of founder Kevin Chu, the project reflects a city where time seems accelerated and architecture is in constant metamorphosis. Buildings rise, shift, and multiply in an ever-evolving vertical landscape. METROPOLIS translates this phenomenon into a composition of abstract volumes defined by slanting geometries, evoking the three-dimensional perspectives of skyscrapers seen from the street below. The result is a sculptural interpretation of urban density and movement.
The installation is composed of opaque acrylic panels that can be freely combined and layered to construct countless imaginary skylines. Sharing the same stainless-steel base as Creazione SUGO’s GUILIN design, the system allows interchangeable compositions of “mountains” or “buildings.” When several elements are placed together, they merge into a continuous glowing horizon—what we describe as a Lampscape.
Both METROPOLIS and GUILIN extend beyond the idea of a lamp. They function as open compositions, inviting the user to act as designer and architect, shaping ever-changing luminous landscapes through personal arrangement.
While METROPOLIS celebrates the vitality and ambition of urban development, it also reflects on the responsibilities that accompany progress. Technological advancement, if detached from ecological awareness, risks becoming destructive rather than transformative.
Through this project, Creazione SUGO proposes a poetic dialogue between city and light—an invitation to celebrate urban diversity while imagining a more conscious and sustainable future for the environments we continue to build.
