GUILIN: The Planet's First | Forever-Virus-Bacteria-Pollution Elimination | Infinitely Customizable | Lampscape
Inspired by the surreal landscape of southern China, Guilin Lampscape translates the poetic topography of Guilin’s iconic karst mountains into a modular illumination sculpture. The region’s mist-shrouded cone-shaped peaks—long immortalized in martial-arts cinema and ancient fables—become the conceptual starting point for a landscape that can be endlessly recomposed.
The idea emerged after Creazione SUGO founder Kevin Chu completed a cycling journey through Guilin. Struck by the quiet rhythm of the mountains rising from the plains, he envisioned a design that would allow users to construct their own luminous terrain.
At its core lies a minimalist rectangular stainless-steel base, precisely milled with linear grooves that house integrated LED lighting. Into these grooves slide laser-cut acrylic panels—referred to by the SUGO team as Hills—each produced in different textures and finishes. When illuminated, light travels vertically through the pantograph-etched lines of the acrylic, causing the silhouettes of the mountains to glow softly, as if emerging through mist.
The panels can be freely rearranged, layered, or replaced, enabling each composition to become a personal interpretation of landscape. No two configurations are ever the same. In this sense, Guilin Lampscape is not a fixed object but an evolving system—an illuminated terrain that invites participation, creativity, and continuous transformation.
More than a lamp, Guilin Lampscape becomes a small architecture of light: a shifting horizon where nature, design, and imagination converge.
