On the frenetic streets of Causeway Bay, where neon battles with the fatigue of aging façades, the refurbishment of VALERI sought to carve out a bold urban presence. Commissioned to reimagine the bar’s exterior while subtly refreshing the interior cladding and furnishings, we adopted a singular chromatic strategy: an unapologetic magenta. In a street oscillating between chaotic colour and weathered grey, VALERI became simply known as the big pink bar.

To soften the rigid geometry of the existing building, the entrance was reshaped with fluid curves, lending the façade a faintly cybernetic aura—somewhere between Japanese anime futurism and Hong Kong nightlife exuberance.

The intervention unfolded under extraordinary time pressure. With the owner determined to reopen within three weeks, the project became an exercise in precision and speed. Working relentlessly, the team delivered the transformation almost exactly on schedule—missing the deadline by only a single day.
