Selected to exhibit at Maison & Objet Paris, we conceived a booth that would function not merely as a display, but as an atmospheric stage for our lighting collection. Within a modest footprint of just 7 by 1.5 meters, the installation explored the tension between visual aggression and tactile softness.
Our inspiration emerged from the geometry of acoustic insulation panels, whose angular surfaces are designed to manipulate sound. Working with a specialized manufacturer, we developed a field of burgundy pyramidal modules that clad the interior walls of the booth. At first glance, the spikes appeared almost confrontational—an architectural skin of sharp protrusions seemingly pushing outward toward the visitor. Yet their material softness subverted this impression, transforming threat into texture.
Against this sculptural backdrop, our lamps hovered like quiet protagonists. The burgundy modules—echoing our studio’s signature color—absorbed the surrounding noise of the fair, creating an unexpected pocket of calm within the frenetic atmosphere of one of the world’s largest design exhibitions.
The effect was immediate. More than a thousand visitors were drawn into the spiked enclosure, intrigued as much by the environment as by the lighting itself. Conversations unfolded in near silence, the booth becoming both an acoustic refuge and a spatial manifesto.
In this hidden dialogue between object and architecture, the installation revealed a simple conviction: provocation, when guided by thoughtful design, becomes a powerful instrument of connection.
